There is no better way to kick off July than to do a fabulous shoot for Genlux Magazine. I was assigned the 6 page story for the fall fashion issue by Genlux creative director, and long time friend, Stephen Kamifuji. I first met Stephen in 1988, fresh out of Art Center and ready to take on the fashion world. Stephen was an art director and we clicked instantly. He hired me to work on some of my first advertising gigs such as B.U.M. Equipment, Honda and Bugle Boy. Now he owns and runs Genlux Magazine along with his gorgeous wife, Cecilia who is publisher of the magazine. I have to say I am a huge fan of Genlux because it is LA’s premier high fashion mag. And with Stephen’s exquisite lay-outs and Cecilia’s keen eye for fashion, the magazine is unquestionably beautiful!

We shot Miss Japan, Masao Arauchi. She is a stunning model from Japan, perfect for Genlux’s fall theme, Tokyo. Along with hair stylist Keiko Hamaguchi and make up artist Lauren Anderson, both from The Celestine Agency LA, we shot the 6 page editorial in under 4 hours in the fab new restaurant Nobu on La Cienega in West Hollywood. If you get a chance and live near LA, you must check out the interiors AND the food at Nobu.

The best part of my day, though, was working with internationally recognized wardrobe stylist to the stars, George Blodwell. What an eye this guy has! He brought trunks and trunks of couture clothing, shoes and accessories, making it difficult in deciding what to shoot! He brought Issey Miyake pieces to die for! You have to check out George’s site: www.georgeblodwell.com. George recently worked with Helen Mirren, dressing her for the academy awards. His list of famed celebrities is a mile long. And George is just amazing to work with. I adore this guy! My new favorite stylist to work with!!

It was a great day!! We were able to pull off the six looks in a short amount of time before the restaurant opened for business!
