I agree, great post. It does indeed tak a team effort so you need everyone involved with the planning from the photographer to the Personal Stylist.

Fantastic article and details. I particularly appreciate your ideas for us newbies… and some of us doing small town photography (like here in Lausanne Switzerland of all places). Tomorrow I’m going to brave the first step and contact the local relevent schools. I’m already thinking of a wardrobe girl ,)

yes agree with what you said about bookers being a big help. the bookers i know aren’t the most professional and its gotten to the point where i just go directly to the talent then the agency. alot less drama that way and i get more immediate answers which matter when i am putting a shoot together.

Do the agencies typically charge the photographer for test shoots? Or do they offer a test rate?

I like your philosophy; I think the theater world and its methods has much to contribute to fashion photography than can help photographers shoot outside the box.
