Explanation: I attempted to capture an image that would not just draw attention to the dress but the jewelry as well. This was a shoot for a jewelry catalog where I also did some shots for our portfolios. I will add the set to my online gallery when my site relaunches in a month since this helped inspire me to do a lot more shooting. There were 3 lights used. The main was a beauty dish above the model. There was a 48″ soft box at camera right and another light with barn doors camera left behind the model.

Melissa Rodwell’s Critique: This fashion shot is very well executed. And Karim, your attempt to draw attention to the jewelry as well really worked. I never read the explanation until after I’ve looked at the photograph. As I was looking through the shot I noticed how elegant the bracelets looked and how the model was doing a great job at showing them off. Your lighting really worked (and I’ll admit, I use that lighting set up a lot so of course I liked it! ) Your choice of model really worked, her hair and make up are nice and I love how you lit the hair with the backlight. This is a really beautiful shot and congratulations on it!
