Jason Mitchell

Personal Information:
Name: Jason Mitchell
Explanation: We had an opportunity to work with a great hair stylist Andreas Hinteregger passing through town. To match his long spirals of hair, Stacey Ransom put together a Giger / Burton inspired set. We booked 15-year-old Sara Jane from Ford and called in Eirik Aswang to clothe her and Ashley Joy-Beck to make her up. This shot was part of the first look and came from later in the session when we were starting to have some fun. We affectionately dubbed it “Cousin It Has a Posse.”
Melissa Rodwell’s Critique: I had a ton of submissions over the past week and so many of the shots submitted were great that it was difficult to choose but this one from Jason Mitchell really stood out. First of all, I think the lighting is great on both the model and the feathers. I like how you can see a peak of the detail of the dress, giving us an idea of what the garmet is but still leaving a bit to the imagination. The pose is striking, it’s just a very nice shot. Congrats on this one, Jason!

I’m totally psych’d but … Crap … I mentioned the hair stylist but not his name! Andreas Hinteregger is the myth, and the spirals are hair, not feathers! In some of other pics from this series we had them tied up all around the set. It was too cool.
Thanks again!
Hi Jason,
I put the Hair Stylist name in the post now!
Awesome and thank you! Eirik and Ashely are down in your neck of the woods (LA) btw for anyone interested.
Wow, that model is gorgeous! Work with her again. Excellent shot!
It was such a thrilling shoot! Like a little machine we all *click*click*clicked together.
YES! I am in the LA area!
Very cool image!
It reminds me a lot the style of Lithium Picnic. I think he had a very similar image with model Ulorin Vex.
Wow! What talent, awesome photography, gorgeous model…..
[...] Sweet! Another SOTW on FPBlog! Filed under: photography, studio — Tags: award, fashion, photography, sets, studio — Jason @ 12:38 pm September 16, 2009 I couldn’t resist submitting another shot to Melissa Rodwell’s lovely and informative Fashion Photography Blog. (And I saw that another prior selectee had snagged a second week in the spotlight so I figured it couldn’t hurt.) You only gain when you take risks and this one paid off with another selection as shot of the week! [...]
BTW, you can see the rest of the series on my photo page and the set on Stacey’s photo page at http://purebredpro.com under “portfolios.” We dubbed this shoot “Off World.”
Thanks again!
