Name: Marta Lamovsek

Explanation: Inspiration for this shoot came within the story of a widow who lives in her the past full of memorys of her huseband - a truck driver. This futuristic woman feels nostalgic and My style of photography is very influenced by David Lynch's vision - and it all started back then with the Twin Peaks. It had such a big impact on me, and I still nurture it in my style of photography that I have.

Melissa Rodwell's Critique: I like Marta's use of the enviroment on this shot. The textures are great, the rusted train behind the model add to that David Lynch decrepit feel. I am always inspired by films and it was interesting to know that this shoot was inspired by one. I like the styling here as well. Keeping the detail in the blacks is very important and it was done well on this shot. Choice of model works, make up and hair are fab. Overall, it's an interesting fashion shot. Very editorial and edgy. Love it.

Name: Nicky Watts

Explanation: I'm doing a whole series based off casting models with plaster cast, building a sculpture on the cast with Recycle Paper, and then photographing the model wearing it. This is the first from the series. Its called Wear Recycle.

Melissa Rodwell's Critique: The reason why I chose this shot was because Nicky Watts nailed the idea of what a fashion photograph is! Her use of lighting to light a white hat was right on. She didn’t blow out the whites, she showed the detail in the texture of the hat while using great beauty lighting on the model’s face. The make up and hair are impeccable, a must on a fashion/beauty photograph. Her choice of model was good and I like how she posed the model with her hand gesturing to the hat, forcing the viewer’s eye to return to the hat, the main product of this fashion photograph. Remember, fashion photography is the business of photographing and selling fashion! This is a great example of that. Congrats, Nicky, on a job well done!
