Hi there FashionPhotographyBlog.com readers,
This post is more of a celebration than an informative one just to change it up a little. Hooray for 3 editorials that have been published recently! I’ll talk a little about each of the shoots that got published in fashion magazines and how you can create images with similar effects. Pardon the colors… Everything gets distorted when uploaded to the blog. To view the images in better quality, head over to my website.
“UltraViolet” for Factice Magazine
This was lit with a combination of black light, strobe and strobe that had been gelled blue. Mixing such extreme color temperatures was quite the challenge! For anyone who wants to try something similar, make sure you’re comfortable with color temps and how they react to with each other/your camera settings. For some info on light, check out my post ‘Lighting Tutorial: “The Science Behind Light”‘.
“Edge Play” for The Wild Magazine
Lets just say that shooting in a skate park while skateboarders are doing tricks within inches of your equipment and crew is quite the experience.
“Dark Waters” for Fault Magazine
This is lit with nothing but natural light and the occasional reflector. Don’t be afraid of high noon light! It produces beautiful results. Everyone shoots at Golden Hour… Shake it up a bit, be different, utilize those high noon harsh shadows!
